Republic of Haiti

The Artibonite River is the longest river on the island of Hispaniola. The river provides energy, irrigation, and drinking water for a large segment of Haiti’s population and supports two third of Haiti’s rice production. The river is subjected to heavy scour and bank erosion. Retaining walls and flood control structures are needed to protect farmland and rural settlements.

Caribe Engineering assisted contractor Southport Dredging Inc. in pre-construction planning, procurement, and administration of riverbank protection projects at various locations along the Artibonite River.
